workshop of green action week concluded

Under Green Action Week 2020, the Sahbhagi Samaj Sewi Sanstha  is organized stakeholder consultation on the theme "Sharing Community" in Chhattisgarh in  collaboration with CUTS International Jaipur and Swedish Society for Nature Conservation.  This program is working to spread awareness about the sustainable development goal-12 (SDG-12), to ensure sustainable consumption and production system and to implement the principle of circular economy on the ground level.  Under this program, the organization conducted various awareness campaigns in the months of September and October and tried to make people aware about sustainable consumption and and sharing community.
While addressing this program, Amardeep Singh, Senior Program Officer CUTS International has given detailed information about the principle of circular economy, reuse, recycling, repair etc. He also emphasised upon conserving natural resources through more efficient use so that human needs can be satisfied without exhausting the nation's finite supply of such resources. This is the only way to ensure that future generations aren't compromised upon.
Mr. Basant Yadav, President, Sahbhagi Samaj Sewi Sanstha  said that organic agriculture works with and promotes sustainable farming practices that enhance biodiversity, strengthen soil health, and mitigate climate change while adapting to it. Similarly, Ramgoolam Sinha, Director, Prerak Sanstha highlighted conservation and promotion of biodiversity and traditional seeds. Dr. Purushottam Chandrakar shared information about his efforts  to save the 230-acres Bishal Gajraj Dam. Manju  Dewangan said that there is an urgent need for a highly efficient waste management system that not only ensures proper segregation of waste at its origin, but also channelizes the waste through different streams of recycling and resource recovery. With this concern, she highlighted the importance of kitchen garden. Jyoti Gupta, President, Tejaswini Foundation  highlighted her the plastic free campaign. She also elaborated  on her initiative  on how to make bags by using old clothes and recycled materials. Amit Babu, Programme Associate CUTS International briefly shared the study on sustainable consumption.  In consultation, participants asked questions which were answered by the panelists.
More than 40 participants from 10 Districts of Chhattisagrh, including representatives of 
voluntary organizations, government officials, Students, attended consultation .The consultation was managed  by  Sanjay Sharma, convenor, Green Action Week- Chhattisgarh and his team members Priyanka Dire, Vaishali Dadsena, Aarti Mishra and Anju.

CUTS International is partnering and supporting 12 organisations in 12 states, for conducting GAW campaign.  This will help in creating a network of organisations working on sustainable consumption and strengthen the collective advocacy for rebuilding recovery plans that will reverse current trends and change the consumption patterns towards more sustainable future.
