The
Rampur Futamuda village, District Dhamtari, people are living in this village
since 1976. Few villagers were cutting down trees of the forest so the people
of neighboring village lodged complaint to the officer-in-charge of forest
department. So the forest department harassed the villagers who used to cut
down the trees. So the harassed villagers left the village. In 1995-96 forest
department officer did case on Rampur Futamuda village people for land
registration (patta), that’s why Devsingh( head of the village) and 15 to 20 other people went to jail and a
women (Nagina ) lived in jail up to 3
years and both came out of jail
in 2004. They got harassed and beaten up in jail. In 2007, those 15-20
villagers came out of jail. But they again got harassed in June 2012 by the
forest officer and the forest department had set their shelter on fire. Their
livelihood was dependent on agriculture, bamboo making and selling of wood. But
due to the action of forest department they had to face lot of hardship. They
don’t have identity proof as they are not having voter Identity card
Due
to the combining effort and support of Rachna Manch and Lok Swabhagi Manch their complaint was lodged before the
collector of Dhamtari. Then survey was conducted and came up with an effective
solution. At Present the villagers got land and got their names listed in voter
list. Finally they got their own identification. They have also constructed
their house on the land given by the collector
